Features:
A Blacksmith’s Life
As the town’s only blacksmith, locals and visitors alike will come to you in search of common goods and unique gifts. Forge a variety of items in your workshop, then use them to earn coin in your shopfront, or deliver orders to your neighbours, to strengthen bonds and unlock new recipes and questlines. Riches await those who devote themselves to a shopkeep’s life!
Cavern Delving
To craft anything, you’ll need to travel into the caverns of the nearby escarpment. Explore its unique environments to mine and forage, with various metals, flora, and fauna awaiting discovery. Upgrade your tools to gather higher tier resources, and scale the heights of the caverns to find unique items, lost townsfolk, and uncover mysteries.
Forging Friendships
With Ambyth in disarray, its townsfolk need your help. Finding survivors will unlock new questlines, and deeper connections can unlock new recipes and bonuses when like becomes love. Be aware, however, that connections existed before you in Ambyth. A friendship with one person could find you at odds with another.
Visiting Towns (Multiplayer)
Welcome up to three friends to your version of Ambyth, or sail to visit theirs. The escarpment’s layouts are unique to each player’s game, so your friend’s caves will differ greatly from your own. Share discoveries and build memories beyond the main storyline: encounter new ‘townsfolk’, find rare recipes, and spend big at your friends’ blacksmith shops (or make a hearty profit). Adventures are best enjoyed with company!

How Zugalu Entertainment reduced RAM usage from 20 GB to 500 MB for Thrive: Heavy Lies the Crown
Zugalu Entertainment’s medieval city-builder Thrive: Heavy Lies the Crown posed a formidable performance challenge: animating hundreds—or even thousands—of distinct characters simultaneously on modest hardware. Targeting 60 fps on a GTX 750 Ti and a quad-core CPU, the team discovered that traditional vertex-baked animations were consuming up to 20 GB of RAM and causing crashes. Lead concept artist Jackie Li and CTO Garrett Hau therefore engineered a custom animation-baking pipeline that offloaded compute to the GPU while dramatically reducing memory usage.
By migrating from vertex baking to bone baking—storing only per-frame bone transforms in compact texture maps that could be shared across characters with identical rigs—the team slashed RAM requirements from 20 GB to just 500 MB. Leveraging Unity’s SkinnedMeshRenderer APIs, Shader Graph for matrix math, and GPU instancing, they cut character draw calls from around 1,000 to just 20 and shrank animation compute time from 3.5 ms on a GTX 750 Ti to under 0.35 ms on a 2080 Ti. To dive deeper into their workflow and performance metrics, read the full case study on Unity’s website.
